Hackers Compromise Two Million Canadian Visa Card Accounts
From CBC Canada: Stolen Identity
On January 18, 2007, consumers were shaken by news that millions of credit card accounts may have been compromised after hackers stole customer information from computer systems of TJX Cos., the U.S. parent firm of Canadian retailers Winners and HomeSense.
It’s believed that as many as two million Canadian Visa card accounts were affected. The hack was discovered in mid-December and included transactions between 2003 and part of 2006.
If you haven’t shopped at Winners and HomeSense lately and think this doesn’t apply to you–think again. The data compromised consisted of records going back to 2003.
