Lost or Stolen Checks
If your personal checks have been lost, stolen or misused, stop payment and notify your bank(s) immediately. Ask your bank to notify the check verification service that it does business with.
You may also wish to contact the major check verification companies and request that they notify all retailers who use their databases not to accept your checks.
Have your Driver’s License or State Identification Card and your checking account information ready before calling.

You will also need to file a report with your local police and/or the police department locality where the fraud took place. Get a copy of the police report in case your financial institutions require proof of the crime.
